Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Medvedev won his initial trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, achieving just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's initial trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hard surface after spring of the previous year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has won 21 victories at 21 distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to doubt if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour victory, took control to force a final set.

He defended four early break points in a close final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
