Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Officers then found numerous other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were working "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.
An important official commented the vandalism made him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the death of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of migrant background in five years prior.
